Doing the right thing to make really good chocolate. We truly believe, to source really good cocoa the people who grow it and the environment in which it is grown must be doing well. That is why we take responsibility for the entire supply chain: from cocoa cultivation to the finished product – in harmony with people and nature.
Our Cocoa takes us to Latin America – Nicaragua and Peru to be precise –

Ghana and Nigeria.

Our Cocoa
All the cocoa we source has been certified since 2018. By the way, we are the first major chocolate manufacturer to do so.
90% (as of 2023) of our cocoa comes from long-term partnerships with producer organisations in cocoa-growing countries, which we support through our cocoa programmes.
We invest around seven million euros a year in our cocoa programmes in Middle and South America and in West Africa.
In order to protect the forests, we have been supporting the mapping of the cocoa farms of all participants in our cocoa programmes for years.
On 1,200 hectares we grow our fine cocoa in a sustainable agroforestry system. Furthermore, we protect another 1,200 hectares of forests and wetland on our farm.

We joined the Science Based Targets Initiative and set us the ambitious goal to reduce our emissions (Scope 1 – 3) by 42 %. After all, it is more important to reduce emissions than to compensate for them retrospectively.
