OUR CHOCOLATE
Chocolate can only ever be as good as its ingredients. For us, doing the right thing means ensuring we make our chocolate from excellent ingredients. So for everything that goes into our chocolate, we have exceptionally high standards of quality and sustainability. Our chocolate squares are bursting with the best ingredients that you can see, taste, and experience.
Our chocolate is made first and foremost from great cocoa. Not just for chocolate lovers but also great for people and nature, where it is grown. Our goal is to know where, how and by whom our cocoa is grown. To do this, we go beyond certification and build partnerships with farmers and cooperatives designed for long-term collaboration. We can only provide local support through targeted programs when knowing about the source. Furthermore, we demonstrate on our own farm El Cacao that cocoa can also be grown under socially and environmentally decent conditions and at competitive prices.
You can only do the right thing if people are doing well in the process — from cultivation to chocolate consumption. Our goal is to ensure that everyone who deals with us is better off than if we had not existed. We strive to create working conditions that contribute to the personal satisfaction of our employees. Beyond our company, we strive for a partnership-based and long-term relationship with all our business partners and people who deal with us, characterized by fairness, trust, and reliability.
For us, doing the right thing means that entrepreneurial action is only possible in harmony with people and nature. Through resource-conserving activities and sustainable procurement, wecontribute to the preservation of biodiversity. Moreover, we are specifically committed to protecting biodiversity, for example on our farm El Cacao. The so-called agroforestry system, a mixed culture of trees and plants, provides different habitats for numerous species. Also, of 2,500 hectares, only 1,300 are used for cocoa cultivation and another 100 hectares for infrastructure. The remaining 1,200 hectares feature interconnected forest and wetland areas, allowing animals to migrate undisturbed through the protected areas.
As a family business since 1912, we think from the ground up long term, in generations, and not just in terms of tomorrow. All our activities aim towards securing and further strengthening the long-term independence of the family business. This unique culture and entrepreneurial freedom allow us to approach things differently and to do the right thing.
